Meet Ira

Ira Shostak is an international photographer based in South Jersey and the founder of Equira Studio.

A rider since 2010, Ira combines her experience around horses with her professional photography background to create portraits that feel both powerful and deeply personal. Her calm and patient approach allows horses to feel comfortable during sessions, resulting in natural expressions and authentic moments.

Over the years, she has photographed horses in Ukraine, Iceland, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Patagonia, always seeking environments that highlight the grace and presence of these remarkable animals.

Why Horses Matter

For Ira, horses have always been more than animals. They represent strength, intelligence, sensitivity, and a rare connection between species.

Time spent at the barn has taught her patience and respect for the quiet language through which horses communicate. Horses respond to calm energy and trust — and that same philosophy guides every Equira Studio session.

Safety and the well-being of the horse are always the first priority.

Beyond the Barn

When she is not photographing or riding horses, Ira works as an international wedding photographer, trains in CrossFit, and prepares for Ironman races. She also loves reading and exploring mountain landscapes around the world.

Her love of adventure and storytelling continues to influence her photography — always seeking beauty, emotion, and connection in every place she visits.
